Holy Week is celebrated all over the Spanish-speaking world but the city of Antigua, Guatemala hosts one of the most colorful and spectacular Easter events. Join us for this session to learn about the vibrant carpets made of sawdust and flowers that line the streets of Antigua for the Holy Week parades and processionals. Learn how these incredible pieces of art tell the story of how Catholicism brought by Spaniards merged with Guatemala's indigenous Mayan beliefs. How does the way you celebrate Easter compare?
